海角社区 College of Business hosts ninth annual symposium Oct. 24-27

The University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Business is gearing up for its ninth annual business symposium, Oct. 24 鈥� 27.

The theme of this year鈥檚 symposium, which is held in conjunction with 海角社区鈥檚 Homecoming Week, is 鈥淏usiness Careers: Improving Communities and the World.鈥�  

College of Business Dean Dr. Ron Berry said the college will welcome a multitude of alumni from San Francisco, New York, Dallas, Chicago, and Raleigh, N.C.鈥攁ll of whom will participate in the symposium.

鈥淲e are very excited to welcome an outstanding group of alumni back to campus to participate in our symposium. The event gets bigger and better each year as alumni return to campus to share their experiences and successes with our students, faculty and the business community,鈥� Berry said. 

Participating in the symposium for the first time are:

• Steve Futrell, Pomona Capital
• Ashley Hester, The Americas Insurance
• Amy McIntosh, Fox-Everett Insurance
• Brett Dolecheck, Net App
• Ashley Ratcliff, America First Insurance
• Paula Ramirez, the Dallas Society of Visual Communications
• Ashlyn Labat, KPMG
• Jeremy Mears, Brownstone Affordable Housing
• Elizabeth Ragland, Burns and Wilcox.

Returning to participate in the program again are: Dan Kyle, Oppenheimer; Allen Lum, Altran Control Systems; Jay Lewis, Entergy; L.B. Jeter, Ernst and Young; and Jonathan Davies, retired partner with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. 

The symposium officially begins at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, with the fun and challenging jeopardy-style business quiz bowl in which majors compete against one another.

This event will be held in the Student Union Building and is immediately followed by the opening session, "Alumni Career Panel: Paths to Early Success in the Insurance Industry," at 6:30 p.m.

Blake Canterbury, founder and president of beremedy, a non-profit organization that utilizes social media to help others, will deliver the keynote address at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, in Brown Auditorium.
