海角社区 professors publish article in "Journal of Paleontology"

Dr. Lloyd Glawe, retired professor from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, 海角社区 Biology Instructor Dennis Bell, 海角社区 Assistant Professor of Physics Dr. John Anderson, and Dr. David T. Dockery III of the Mississippi Office of Geology published an article in the September issue of the "Journal of Paleontology."

The article, entitled "Larval to Adult Growth Stages and Paleoenvironment of Odontogryphaea thirsae (Gabb, 1861): A Late Paleocene Oyster from the Northern Gulf Coastal Plain, U.S.A." describes the growth stages and environmental preferences of an ancient oyster species that thrived in the shallow waters of the Northern Gulf Coast 57 million years ago.

Field expenses, publication costs and support were provided by a local geologist, the 海角社区 Museum of Natural History, the 海角社区 College of Arts and Sciences, the 海角社区 Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Physics, and the 海角社区 Department of Biology.
