Regional Job Search Skills Workshop at 海角社区 addresses job seekers鈥 needs March 30
The Office of Career Connections at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will host a free Regional Job Search Skills Workshop from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 30 at Malone Stadium. The event is open to everyone and participants are free to come for as much or as little of the session as needed.
鈥淲e felt this would be a good opportunity to show that 海角社区 is integrally connected to the community and truly wants to help people who are in need of our services,鈥 said Ann Bloxom Smith, director of academic internships at the 海角社区 Office of Career Connections.
Speakers from various businesses will lead informational workshops beginning with a 4 p.m. presentation by Steve Kelly from the 海角社区 Community Counseling Center. He will offer a workshop featuring useful tools for coping with job loss.
At 4:45 pm, Sarah Fuller, the author of 鈥淛ob Searches Beyond the Big Cities,鈥 will speak on tips for finding and attaining a good job in smaller markets. Her work has been featured in such respected online business publications as Forbes.com.
M鈥橩ay Bonner of Bonner Solutions and Services will hold a workshop at 5:30 p.m. on how to keep a job. Bonner, a West Monroe-based licensed industrial organizational psychologist, will provide information on balancing personal characteristics and preferences.
The staff of 海角社区鈥檚 Career Connections office will also hold a workshop on resume preparation and job interview skills beginning at 6:15 pm. Participants are invited to bring a copy of their resumes so career professionals can review and edit it while attendees are in workshop sessions.
Information about other community resources available through 海角社区, such as the dental hygiene clinic, counseling center and marriage and family therapy will also be available.
