Lunte and Seiler to perform Nov. 5

海角社区鈥檚 Sandra Lunte, associate professor of music, and Keyboard Chair Richard Seiler will perform in a concert as part of the Faculty Artist Series presented by the School of Visual and Performing Arts Monday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Biedenharn Recital Hall. Admission is free with faculty or student ID.

The duo, recently named 鈥淎rtist of the Year鈥� by the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council, will play the Sonata in E Major by J.S. Bach, a sonata by composer Paul Basler, a piece by Gary Schocker, and the Widor Suite.

Basler is the horn instructor at the University of Florida. Lunte recalls, 鈥淩ick and I used to be two-thirds of a flute/horn/piano trio, and we used to travel, including to some horn conferences around the country. We have met Paul many times at these conferences, and he is a funny, outgoing man.

鈥淗is sonata reflects that, but it has some wonderful surprises as well. We have never done it before, but heard it performed at the national flute convention in 2001. We vowed then to perform it since we loved it so much. There is so much flute and piano repertoire! So much great music...so little time.鈥�

Lunte teaches flute, flute choir, flute class, woodwind trio, and sophomore theory. She is also a Centaur recording artist. Seiler, an associate professor of music, teaches piano, piano literature, and music theory. A Fazioli artist, he has performed extensively as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician throughout the southeastern United States.
