Up 'Til Dawn Carnival/Finale set for April 25
海角社区 will conclude this year鈥檚 鈥淯p 鈥楾il Dawn,鈥 the student-led, student-run national philanthropy benefiting St. Jude鈥檚 Hospital, with a carnival Wednesday, April 25 from 5:30 鈥 8:30 p.m. in the Grove on campus.
Everyone is invited to enjoy the finale, with its booths, inflatables, food, and bands. Along with the carnival, there will also be a classic car show. This event is part of 海角社区鈥檚 Spring Fever Week.
To participate in the program, 海角社区 students had to recruit a six- member team composed of 海角社区 students and faculty/staff who would pledge to raise $750 for St. Jude's through various activities. The major fund-raising activity is a letter writing campaign, where participants ask family and friends for donations on behalf of their team.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tenn., was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas. The hospital is an internationally recognized biomedical research center dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic childhood diseases. The hospital's work is supported through funds raised by the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities. All St. Jude patients are treated regardless of their ability to pay. ALSAC covers all costs for families who have no insurance.
The program extends throughout the year, culminating in an extravaganza that keeps college students up all night.
